Zzoomm’s FTTP Broadband goes live in Cheshire village

UK Internet Service Provider Zzoomm has announced that its new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network has gone live in parts of Crewe and Nantwich in Cheshire. Premises in Shavington village have been the first to be connected in the rollout, which forms part of Zzoomm’s wider plans to reach one million premises in 85 towns across the UK by the end of 2025.

Matthew Hare, Zzoomm’s CEO, said: “For the first time, homes and local businesses in the area will have a choice of network. And what a choice: a brand new infrastructure that is fit for the future and able to meet existing consumer demands.”

The company said in a statement that “Zzoomm’s network build began in the village of Shavington, with the first residents in the area able to connect to the fastest and most reliable broadband in the UK.” Zzoomm added that, with the build continuing across Crewe and Nantwich, the number of premises able to access a full-fibre connection "will reach its thousands by end of completion."

Commenting on the build in the village, Shavington Village Council Member and Zzoomm’s Local Depot Manager, Jonathan Bebbington added: “I’ve lived in Shavington for as long as I can remember. Zzoomm has come into this close-knit community and has been incredibly welcomed by everyone. I understand first hand how poor the current broadband offerings have been and I am excited for the village to be the first within our build plans to experience the connection they deserve!”

Zzoomm’s original plan, announced in May 2021 was to provide full-fibre coverage to 52,000 premises across the Crewe and Nantwich area, however, the broadband provider is yet to release any information as to when this will be completed.

Zzoomm's first rollout began in 2019 on Henley-on-Thames and completed in 2020. That year, the company received £100 million in backing from Oaktree Capital Management to fund future UK rollouts.
