Poor mobile coverage forcing firms to rethink telecommunications

New figures from YouGov have revealed that many businesses across the UK are suffering from poor mobile coverage and are seeking an alternative telecommunications solution.

The survey – commissioned by SpiderCloud Wireless and carried out by YouGov, the international internet-based market research firm – found that 39 per cent of managers based at firms across the UK believed that poor mobile reception and capacity was having a negative impact on the business.

Director of enterprise services and technologies at SpiderCloud Wireless, Art King, told Telappliant: “Too many businesses suffer from not only patchy indoor coverage in their premises, but also capacity issues that mean dropped calls, late texts and substandard data rates. Not surprisingly, a high number of businesses say they would churn to an operator that could guarantee better service.”

Businesses that cannot guarantee a good service using traditional means of communication are increasingly turning to concepts such as VoIP or other IP telephony as they are not reliant on traditional phone links or lines. These services also allow firms to benefit from cheap, all-inclusive call packages and maximum efficiency, allowing major savings of both time and money to be made.

Turning to internet-run communications tools should ensure that ‘commercial activities will no longer be hampered by infrastructure weaknesses that should not be an issue in modern day business,’ Telappliant reported.

Businesses looking to move services into the cloud, should evaluate the performance of their existing network and consider setting up a leased line or MPLS network.
